Private Residence Design: Orderly Light and Shadow Under Natural Relaxation

COSMO MOBILI|Private Residence Design: Orderly Light and Shadow Under Natural Relaxation
The project is a fully-furnished residential apartment located in Yiwu, Zhejiang. To cater to the diverse preferences and habits of the homeowner's family, the designer has proposed two schemes featuring light and dark color palettes respectively. These schemes create distinct spatial atmospheres and fully meet the homeowner's needs for emotional fulfillment.

Design Style 1
Elegant Luxury in a New Realm
The entire living room area adopts a relatively rational and restrained color palette. The plump shape of the Arnio Sofa and the graceful lines of the Buddy Coffee Table soften the rigid feel of the space.

Moving the focus to the dining area, the Babylon Dining Table—crafted from dark lacquer and oak—resembles a flawless artistic installation. It complements the well-organized sideboard, fully demonstrating functional practicality.
Four burgundy leather Koolhaas Dining Chairs and the vibrant wall paintings brighten up the space perfectly.

The dining room and living room, which run through vertically, are divided into zones by furniture with different functions.

The new scale relationships and circulation paths infuse vitality into the originally static space.
Considering the child’s age and cool personality, the space primarily adopts a neutral color palette. The extended combination of the Ethan Bed and custom cabinets breaks away from the traditional pink-themed princess room stereotype.

Following the spatial circulation path, the transition from the public living area to the private zone is realized.
The master bedroom suite is located behind the living room, boasting a more spacious living space. The fully upholstered Noah Bed, combined with the comfortable-feeling bedding, creates a unique sense of balanced harmony.
The perfect dimensions of the Cindy Nightstand and Guer Vanity Stool add more aesthetic and practical accents to the home.

The son’s bedroom is neat and elegant. The custom open shelves incorporate his favorite blue as an accent color, blending a sense of orderly rhythm with ethereal lightness. The fully upholstered Etan Bed, paired with a low-saturation color scheme rich in layers, showcases the designer’s care and sophistication in every detail, exuding a gentle and comfortable vibe.

Design Style 2
Dreamy Milk-toned
In Design Style 2, the TV wall is renovated (demolished and modified), with a large number of storage cabinets added. Curved elements extend from the sofa to the hardcover space; both the furniture and custom cabinets are reimagined in a light cream tone. The color of the sheer curtains matches that of the wall latex paint perfectly. When sunlight filters into the room, it enhances the dreamy and warm atmosphere even more.

Considering the intimate interactions among family members, the designer has constructed the living room into a space that is both functional and engaging. Playful Bunny chairs and geometrically artistic Ivan Side Tables are placed throughout the area.

The dining room retains the same hardcover environment; the difference lies in the replacement of the dining table with the more minimalist Weimar Dining Table. The decorative effect of the furniture and soft furnishings is highlighted through the contrast of materials. The Calacatta White marble slab tabletop ensures that the color schemes of the living and dining areas are both cohesive and fluid.

The wavy-shaped headboard of the Nyoman Bed intersects with the undulating folds of the curtains, and the same color family is used for the fabrics. For the wall at the foot of the bed, the original door leading to the living room has been replaced with a cabinet—this not only enhances the child’s privacy but also makes it easier to store more items.

The flooring in the bedroom has been fully renovated. The dark herringbone-patterned wood veneer matches the master bedroom space, creating a more composed and grand atmosphere. The nightstands are arranged in a traditional symmetrical layout, paired with the elegant Simo Bed. A Turin Bedroom Cabinet is added at the foot of the bed, which not only meets the dressing needs but also serves as a temporary workspace. The pull-out countertop allows for more flexible control of the space scale.

Finally, considering the differences in children's living habits and needs, the headboard of the son’s bedroom is designed with an integrated cabinet door style, which can provide additional storage space.
